AACTMAD High School Credit Program

AACTMAD's Community Resource (CR) credit program offers physical education credit for participating in traditional music and dance events, free of charge. This program is available to any Ann Arbor Public high school student, through Community High School's Community Resource program.

If you can walk, you can dance. Put some music into your step! Tap into traditions of social and ritual dancing that enliven communities around the world.

  • Get aerobic exercise
  • Gain new skills and coordination
  • Earn high school physical education credit

Even if you think you can't dance, or you're too shy to dance, traditional dancing might surprise you. It's easy to learn and habit-forming fun. Dancers don't need to come with a partner and they switch partners frequently to learn from experienced dancers. Here are a few of the dance traditions available:

  • contra dancing
  • English country dancing
  • international folk dancing
  • longsword dancing
  • morris dancing
  • Scottish country dancing
  • swing dancing
  • vintage dancing

These are all public events within Ann Arbor. As a CR class member, you'll be admitted without charge. Dress any way you are comfortable and can move around easily.

Download the Community Resource Credit Flyer (1 page PDF) for details.

or call 734-769-1052 for more info and to register.
